Yesterday, while browsing through the web’s design magazines, the headline “The coffee hype has arrived in interiors” popped up on my screen. Followed by “In 2024, we’ll be wearing coffee core from head to toe”.
And: “Barbiecore is out – embrace the coffee core”. We embrace it. Very much so.

Hardcore – in other words, a fierce dedication to a trend that goes right to the core – is the origin of the neologism “coffee core”. Let’s start with that. Nothing new for us, as we are definitely “hardcore” when it comes to our organic coffee. So, of course we very much welcome the fact that others have now discovered the beans and are using them as an active ingredient in scrubs, facial oils, and serums or even perfumes. There are also “latte make-ups” and coffee-brown espresso nail polishes. Lipsticks in a mocha shade with coffee oil and masks with caffeine. That’s great.
A little tip in between: You can make one or two of these yourself, for example with the coffee grounds from your cup of Mount Hagen. How? We tell you here. Very worth reading: “How good is this…?” An article in which you can find recipes for coffee-based scrubs, hair treatments, and more.
Cold Brew Gold, Latte Macchiato, Oat Milk (no joke!), Americano… These are just a few of the latest trend colors in the interior sector. Sounds very tasty and cozy – and is definitely more relaxed than last year’s Barbie purple and bright pink. However, that was (thankfully) more in fashion and accessories (including cars, yep). Cafécore 2024 is actually happening in wall colors, fabrics, furniture, etc.
Despite all my coffee madness, it’s not my world. Personally, I find an abundance of beige “semi pretty” and prefer to interpret the hip café style through what makes a good coffee: Really good, fresh, dark brown, fragrant organic beans, a shiny chrome portafilter machine, white cups, and a very aromatic Demeter espresso with a golden crema.
What do you think of the cafécore trend? Are you joining in? Are you remodeling your kitchen, your home? Or do you prefer to make your own scrub from coffee grounds? Let us know in the comments, we’re very curious.
