Peru

Peru, county: Located in western South America. It borders Brazil, the world’s largest coffee producing country. Coffee is the most important agricultural export product, with 98% of coffee here cultivated by small farmers in forest areas. It has a very balanced, full-bodied and strong taste with a soft, spicy note and fine chocolate nuances.


Tanzania

Tanzania, country: Located in East Africa. It borders the Indian Ocean, Kenya and Uganda, among others. It has been independent since 1961. Coffee is an important export. It is primarily cultivated by small farmers. It is considered less acidic compared to Kenyan coffee. It tastes fruity, sweet, full-bodied and upscale.

Terroir

Terroir, noun: From the French “terre,” meaning land. The term originally comes from wine cultivation. It describes the natural factors of a parcel of land that influence the characteristics of the plants cultivated there: Climate, geology, topography and soil conditions. It is also now used to describe the quality of coffee. Single origin coffee is sometimes also called “terroir coffee”.

Uganda

Uganda, country: Located in East Africa. It borders Kenya, the Congo and Tanzania, among others. The country has a very checkered and dark history that includes the dictator Idi Amin, for example. It took its first steps towards a multi-party system in 2005. Its climate is tropical and warm, however, it is cooled considerably due to its altitude. Ugandan coffee is comparatively intense with typical notes of fresh fruit. Its Robustas are very spicy and have only a mild acidity.
